ABOUT THE LABThe Social Cognition and Recovery in Schizophrenia (SCORS) Lab, housed in the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Southern Mississippi, conducts research on social cognition, or the mental processes that support social interaction, in schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. We are interested in factors that influence social cognition, such as distress tolerance and sleep, as well as how we can positively influence social cognition through treatment to promote recovery in people with mental illnesses like schizophrenia-spectrum disorders or other psychopathology.

Diversity statement: I intend for students from all diverse backgrounds and perspectives to be well-served by my mentorship and their involvement in the SCORS Lab. The diversity that mentees bring to the SCORS Lab is viewed as a resource, strength, and benefit. It is my intent to provide mentorship and other resources that are respectful of all types of diversity: race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, perspective, etc. Diversity and inclusion are pillars of our lab, and research in the lab incorporates a social justice perspective. If you are considering applying to work in the SCORS Lab as either a graduate or undergraduate student, I encourage you to reach out to me or to SCORS Lab mentees if you have questions or concerns regarding any diversity-related issue, including how diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued and represented in the lab and our research. We are all more than happy to discuss these issues with you.
