ONGOING RESEARCH
The goal of the SCORS Lab is to conduct research that investigates social cognition, or the mental processes that support social interaction, and other social factors that influence quality of life and can promote recovery for those diagnosed with a mental illness, with special focus on schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Research in the lab has three main aims:

- Investigate the psychosocial and physiological mechanisms of social cognitive abilities and social impairment in schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. The lab has particular interest in sleep disturbance and distress tolerance as potentially important constructs.
- Apply results of work examining determinants of social cognitive processes in schizophrenia-spectrum disorders to intervention refinement and development.
- Take a transdiagnostic approach to understanding and alleviating social cognitive deficits in psychopathology. While the lab focuses on schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, social cognitive deficits are seen in many mental illnesses, and the SCORS Lab conducts research across the spectrum of psychopathology. Some current works focus on schizotypy, paranoia, serious mental illnesses more broadly (schizophrenia-spectrum, bipolar, and severe depressive disorders), and posttraumatic stress disorder.
